Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and auto-immune condition of the large intestine (colon). The symptoms include diarrhea, frequent bowel movement that may or may not be accompanied by blood and mucous in the stool.  Other ulcerative colitis symptoms may include gas, bloating, indigestion, pain, cramps and weight loss.  To help you eliminate ulcerative colitis, we must realize there are in total, nine separate variables that may cause Ulcerative Colitis.

What are the best foods to eat in a diet for Ulcerative Colitis? That is a common question for sufferers and yes, there are diets for Ulcerative Colitis. Though simple dietary changes will help a small percentage of sufferers and since most have their symptoms for many different reasons, there is not an Ulcerative Colitis diet that will work for everyone.

Colitis treatment is a patient centered, individual approach.  Any successful Colitis treatment must recognize there are any number of variables that contribute to colitis symptoms.  Your Colitis treatment may be different than another Colitis patient because each of you are an individual, different from each other. Natural colitis treatments have proven to be the most successful approach.

Colitis is an auto-immune and inflammatory condition of the large intestine (colon).  It may have been preceded by Irritable Bowel Syndrome that progressed to this more severe stage.  There are many forms of colitis, so no matter which kind you have, regardless which name they attach to the word colitis, they all share many reasons why you have it and what your symptoms might be. There are only minor differences between the many different kinds of colitis, but the following information is applicable to all types.

Ulcerative Colitis does have a primary cause:  ANTIBIOTICS!  There are also genetic variables that contribute to a predisposition and antibiotics may have triggered that predisposition.  Each time you took an antibiotic to treat an infection of any kind, they also altered the delicate balance of good bacteria living in the gastrointestinal system.

It doesn't matter if you have taken 2 or 200 courses in your lifetime or if you haven't taken any in years, the damage could have been done that long ago.  Ulcerative Colitis symptoms develop because the beneficial bacterial balance is altered, then the chemistry of the gastrointestinal system changes, inflammation occurs, food allergies are created, the immune system gets involved and symptoms develop.

Ulcerative Colitis diet? What are the best foods to eat in a diet for Ulcerative Colitis? That is a common question for sufferers and yes, there are diets for Ulcerative Colitis. Though simple dietary changes will help a small percentage of sufferers and since most have their symptoms for many different reasons, there is not an Ulcerative Colitis diet that will work for everyone.  We can figure out an Ulcerative Colitis diet by telling you what not to eat.  That then determines what you can eat.  If I don't tell you to not eat something, go ahead and enjoy!  See below for the eliminations.

Ulcerative Colitis is a complex condition requiring a complex solution.  To help you eliminate symptoms associated with Ulcerative Colitis (and determine Ulcerative Colitis food), we must realize there are in total, nine separate variables that may cause your symptoms:
1. Lost beneficial bacteria in your intestines
2. Possible bad bacteria, yeast or parasites
3. Lowered levels of digestive enzymes (especially if you have lost your gall bladder)
4. Detrimental bowel chemistry
5. Intolerances to dairy products (the most important dietary elimination)
6. Intolerances to fructose containing foods
7. Intolerances to gluten containing foods (another important dietary elimination)
8. Celiac Disease (a problem with gluten, but different than a gluten intolerance)
9. Possible food allergies (different than intolerances, it's an immune response and without learning of them, you will never get well)
Are there Diets to help Ulcerative Colitis?

If you notice the nine separate causes of Colitis in the paragraph above, the last five are diet related:  Intolerances to dairy, fructose or gluten, Celiac Disease and food allergies, which are found in all Colitis patients and must be identified and eliminated from the diet before the patient can get well.

In the nine separate variables that cause Colitis symptoms, your Colitis treatment may find that two or three are pertinent in your case and another will find that addressing seven or eight will make up their colitis treatment.  In this natural Colitis treatment, five are diet related.

The planned step-by-step process of elimination of certain foods, food allergy testing and all natural supplements are the strength of Dr. Prater's Colitis treatment.  (You may not need to eliminate all of the food groups mentioned and they may or may not be permanent.)

A diet for Colitis doesn't exactly exist, but your can determine your specific diet for Colitis by understanding what not to eat.  Dr. Prater's protocol will teach you the foods to avoid and that means all other foods not mentioned can be eaten.

Ulcerative Colitis is a complex condition requiring a complex solution.  To help you eliminate symptoms associated with Ulcerative Colitis (and determine a proper diet for Colitis), Dr. Prater uses nine separate variables that causes colitis and from this information, you can create your own diet for colitis.

Five of the variables are diet related:  intolerances to dairy, fructose or gluten, Celiac Disease and food allergies.

Have you gone off of dairy?  Tried to eliminate gluten from your diet?  With no success?  Many have, but it is a planned step-by-step process of elimination of these foods while we utilize all-natural supplements to re-establish beneficial bacterial balances, restore proper chemistry and use anti-inflammatory herbs and other compounds that is the strength of Dr. Prater's Ulcerative Colitis diet treatment.

We can figure out a Colitis diet.  Please realize that since there is not one list of foods or colitis recipes for sufferers of colitis, we must start with what you should not eat.  No dairy products, not gluten containing foods and a food allergy test will reveal what foods are contributing to the inflammatory process and contributing to your symptoms.  All other foods not dairy, gluten containing or found positive on the allergy test can be eaten.

Dr. Prater doesn't really call it a colitis diet, but understanding intolerances to dairy, fructose or gluten, Celiac Disease and food allergies, which are found in all Colitis patients and must be identified and eliminated from the diet before the patient can get well....are the keys to designing a colitis diet.

A planned step-by-step process of elimination of these foods while we utilize all-natural supplements to re-establish beneficial bacterial balances, restore proper chemistry with anti-inflammatory compounds that is the strength of Dr. Prater's diet for Colitis treatment.  (Please understand you may not need to eliminate all of the food groups mentioned and the elimination may or may not be permanent.)

Colitis symptoms are diarrhea, loose or soft bowels and frequent bowel movements that are usually found with blood and mucous in the stool, but may not always be the only colitis symptoms.  Other Colitis symptoms may include gas, bloating, indigestion, pain, cramps and weight loss.

There is a primary cause as to why you have Colitis symptoms:  ANTIBIOTICS!  There are also genetic variables that contribute to a predisposition for colitis symptoms and antibiotics may have set off that predisposition.  Each and every time you took an antibiotic to treat an infection, they also killed some of this delicate balance of helpful bacteria living in your system. It doesn't matter if you have taken 2 or 200 courses in your lifetime or if you haven't taken any in years, the damage could have been done that long ago.

Colitis symptoms develop because the intricate bacterial balance is altered, which in time changes the chemistry, inflammation occurs, food allergies are created, the immune system fires up and symptoms of colitis are upon you.

Colitis sufferers may experience diarrhea, many bowel movements throughout the day and most patients, but not all will experience blood and mucous in the stool.  Other symptoms of colitis may include gas, bloating, indigestion, pain, cramps and weight loss.  For any patient to completely resolve the symptoms associated with any type of colitis, we must first understand the cause and then pursue an all natural treatment plan.

Colitis symptoms develop because the beneficial bacterial balance is changed, the chemistry of the gastrointestinal system becomes unhealthy, inflammation occurs, food allergies are created, the immune system gets involved, and symptoms develop.
